Eliza who?
« on: Sunday 01 November 09 07:16 UTC (UK) »

Hello all,

Can anybody help or advise me on finding out my ladys last name?

The information I have is  Eliza born about 1788, Clondrina, Clare

married                             Timothy Doody born about 1792
Cloondrinagh Clare, died 1879 Kilrush, Clare

I am totally out of my depth here Wink

Any advise would be gratefully recieved.

Sorry if I'm on the wrong board, maybe should be on Clare?

Cheers

Do you know what religion Eliza was or where (i.e. townland or parish) she was born or married ?

Most of the parish records (Catholic or Church of Ireland) that I see mentioned for Co. Clare seem to only go back to the mid to early 1800s... the Irish Times has some details on surviving records and where they are located : http://www.rootschat.com/links/07dz/

The Clare library has a good genealogy website, that is worth having a look at - see : http://www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/coclare/genealogy/genealog.htm

Full list of parishes in Co. Clare here:

http://home.pacbell.net/nymets11/genuki/CLA/RCrecords.htm

None of them seem to have records going back to 1700's.

Hello Shane and Dara,

Thanks for providing the links,  I knew it was a long shot being so far back!

I can only guess Eliza was Catholic,  the family two generations on certainly were.  Todays generations are also Catholic.

Thanks agains so much for your help, I will check out those links and cross my fingers Wink
