« on: Sunday 01 November 09 09:53 UTC (UK) »

In the early summer of 1942 a soldier in the Oxford and Bucks Light Infantry was killed by a land mine (presumably on the beach) at Saltfleetby St. Clement - any information  however trivial welcomed by johnl

There are mentions of Saltfleetby and WW2 here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saltfleetby

The wiki reference to Soloby is not quite correct. The spelling I know (from local railway sources in the 1950s) is Sollerby. There are unlikely to be mentions of the incident in any local media due to wartime restrictions, so I would suggest the most likely way to proceed successfully is to attempt to contact older local people who may remember the incident.

I suggest a letter to the Editor of the Lincolnshire Standard, Louth edition explaining what you are looking for, sure he will publish. I made a WW2 query in the Boston Standard last year, and got my questions very well answered.
