Lookup for Piddington/Horton, Denton parishes, early 1700s to complete research!
« on: Sunday 01 November 09 10:12 UTC (UK) »

Hello all.  Firstly a big "thank you" to those of you who have helped me so much during my family research (seahall & crozziefan in particular).  I visited Northampton & Hackleton on a short trip with my father a few weeks ago (from Ireland) and I have now nearly completed the family tree in time for distribution at Christmas.

When we visited Horton/Hackleton (in Piddington parish) we discovered the grave of my great-great-great-grandparents and the house he lived in, which is still occupied.  Can anyone help me trace the family back another generation or two before I conclude my research?

What I know is that my ancestor Thomas Clarke married Elizabeth Lilly on 11 Jun 1764 in Horton church (which is in Piddington parish).  Can anyone help locate baptismal records for either of these people - presumably in the 1720-1747 period?  They are most likely to be in the Horton/Piddington parish but their son, Westfield Clarke, married in nearby Denton so there may be a link there too.

If we do find them, can anyone help locate their parents marriage record and their baptism records in turn?  My great-grandmother was a Clarke so it is that family that I most interested in tracing back further.  They were certainly living in the Hackleton/Horton area from the 1760s right through to the 1880s when my branch moved to Northampton.

Any help would, as always, be very much appreciated.

Best wishes,

Mark.

Hi Mark.

Glad to see you have visited our County and some of the quaint villages.

There were Lilly families in Denton baptising in the correct period, yet
I can not see an Elizabeth.

As to Thomas there were quite a few possible.

I think the best thing so you can complete for Christmas would be
to ask Alan Clarke, I have his web site noted below
(http://www.northants-familytree.net ).

He is the best person to ask for possible variants etc.

The best of luck.

Sandy
