Hello.
I'm looking for the emigration details for Elizabeth's travel from England to South Australia (Adelaide). I don't know if she was a convict or an unassisted passenger.
She was born in 1833 in Middlesex to Joseph and Elizabeth Dear (nee Whiting).
She married James Henry Greatrex in Adelaide in 1852. She appeared on the 1851 England census in Middlesex with her family; father Joseph was a 'Baker'. So she had to travel after the 1851 census and before she married on 19th July 1852 in Holy Trinity Church, Adelaide? She was 19.
Thanks Julie

I still miss her......

Julie, she wouldn't have been a convict, as South Australia didn't receive convicts.
Unfortunately, James Henry Greatrex isn't listed in the Biographical Index of South Australians, so no help there.

Hi Julie,
I have had no luck with an arrival in SA for Elizabeth. She may have entered through another State. (Though I am not spotting it)
There is an entry in South Australians 1836-1885 though it does not help us.
GREATOREX/GREATREX James Henry arrived 17 Mar 1852 aboard the HASHEMY?, (The ? is in the entry - The Hashemy did arrive at Pt Adelaide on that date, I have not found a passenger list) occupation - hairdresser, storeman, marriage 19 July 1852 to Elizabeth DEAN, children - Clara Amelia, James Henry b 4 Jan 1854, Eliza Caroline PERKINS 8 Jan 1855 - 8 Sep 1915, Charles Henry 21 Sep 1856, Louisa 25 July 1859

Hi, Just an observation..... JAMES HENRY GREATREX arrived Mar. 1852 and the marriage was about 4 months later. It occurs to me that they knew each other before his arrival and perhaps she was also on the 'Hashemy' Sue

Hi Julie,
Passenger list for the HASHEMY has not survived.
Newspaper announcement lists J GREATREX among the passengers to Adelaide (not a lot) Elizabeth DEAR is not listed the nearest was a Miss DRURY and 119 passengers (not named) for Pt Phillip and Sydney.
Cheers Kris
