Morris,Donnelly, McDade/McDaid
« on: Saturday 27 November 04 01:10 UTC (UK) »

Hi
I'm an Aussie sheila needing some help in tracing my Irish history.
My GGgrandfather John Morris arrived in Australia 1863,his wife Catherine Donnelly and 3 children in1864 on board Empire of Peace with John sister Sarah.

John's parents were Edward (Owen) Morris and Leer McDade(McDevitt). I have information on the Donnelly family.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi

Should you post this in the Tyrone directory?

Have you looked for the household in the Griffiths Valuation?

Kate

Hi
Could anyone help I am after information on John Morris and Catherine Donnelly married about 1857 in Tyrone. They had three children Margaret, Rose, John before they arrived in Australia.
John's parents names are Edward Morris and Leer McDade. I am not sure if they are correct but these were on his death certificate.

When Catherine arrived in Australia with her three children she was accompanied by John sister Sarah Morris.
Don't know if there were any other children for Edward and Leer. Also I don't have any information on Catherine's parents

Thank you for any help

I put this in the Donegal section since McDade families are more prevaliant in this area also so of the certificates I have say Donegal and others say Tyrone.

I am covering all my bases wouldn't you.

I have check Griffiths Valuation every year since I have start Genealogy in 1988 and have not come a cross it???

I have not found Edward Morris or Owen Morris(name on Sarah Morris Hanrahan death certificate) in the Griffiths Valuation in the 1800's.

Griffith's Valuation only lists head of household so not everyone listed there.
However, swearching for Owen Morris in Co. Tyrone there are 6 entries and also 6 for Edward Morris.
