Hi Milly

I take it Susannah Hayes is the mother of your Grandfather ?

Who did your Grandfather John marry ?

Grandfather John Married Jane Woodruff / Parks, she married 3 times.  Just looked at 1911 census have found William married to Margaret (Cottam) with child John Ernest which fits in with family names..but in grave is Elizabeth Lamb who also marries William Lingard..... I think I need a cuppa!

I presumed Elizabeth Ann Lamb was the Elizabeth Ann Lingard on the 1891 census but I cannot find a marriage for a Lamb to a Lingard

Did your Grandfather not marry anyone earlier, he was born in 1865 and didn't marry Jane Park until 1917 ?

I assumed he would have married earlier but could not find a marriage, only to someone with a child..who didn't die!  I think you are right about Elizabeth Lamb, it is so easy to go wrong.  Will change the tree again, having a child called John Ernest Hayes has to be right.

Yes, that's us!  Grandmother Jane only died in 1976, which came as a shock as I assume she did not know of my existance.  Am searching for Lambs now, how I digress.....

Robert Lingard  Age 27   Bachelor,  Occ: Mechanic of  223 Ribbleton Lane, Father  Thomas Lingard, Occ Overlooker (it doesn't say deceased??)

In the Preston Guardian of 28th August 1897 there is one line in the deaths mentioning Thomas Lingard age 63 of St.Thomas Rd

Now that's a worry, I have death cert for Thomas 1897 17 August, in attendence wife Susannah!  Maybe that is the wrong marriage for Robert, but ... Witness Thomas Lingard, could be 1878, brother of Robert!!

I don't know how to apart from visiting the records office in Preston.  Someone on Genes has the same tree up to Thomas and then goes off (I think) on the wrong one and has gone back to 1500's.  It is interesting that you picked that up on one of your earlier comments.  Is it worth buying the cd's that are advertised for parish records?  I found Robert, I think he died in 1901!

Don't buy anything yet

I think the last 1841 census I found is the correct one, we just need to find Thomas's baptism and Johns marriage record

Regards

This morning I looked at the Baptismal records for St. Michael, Kirkham from 1825 to 1838

This Thomas looks the most likely

24/04/1831  Thomas Lingart : Parents  John & Ann : Occ  Carter :  Abode  Kirkham

Also

11/05/1828  Alice Lingart : Parents  John & Ann : No Occ :  Abode  Kirkham

I found two others aswell

31/01/1830  Thomas Lingart : Parent  Ellen : Spinster :  Abode Kirkham

22/04/1838  Thomas Lingart : Parents John & Mary : Occ Labourer : Abode Kirkham

Regards
