Smiths in Birmingham
« on: Sunday 01 November 09 13:01 UTC (UK) »

Hello everyone

I hope that someone can help.

I'm trying to find my relatives on the 1891 census (or find any info!), and cannot for the life of me see them anywhere!  I have very few details on them as it is - Smith being a very common name and as I think that they were also Catholic I haven't got much info to go on.
I found them on the 1901 census:

Thomas Smith (Head)  Aged 41 born abt 1860   Labourer Paper Mills
Mary (wife)                Aged 38 born      1863
Thomas Smith             Aged 19                      Tube Cutter of Steel
Beatrice Smith            Aged 16                       Paper Sorter
Gertrude Smith           Aged 13
Elsie Smith                 Aged 10
Harold Smith              Aged 7
Horace Smith              Aged 4
Harry Deeman             Aged 20                      Cycle fork Maker  (Lodger)

All places of birth are down as Birmingham, Warwick

And in 1901 they lived at 12 Osbourne Buildings, Mount Street
(Warwickshire>Aston>Duddeston>District51>page 32)

Thomas's full name was Thomas william and I have no information on his wife except her dates of 1863 (B'Ham - 9.7.1922 Aston) (She was def Roman Catholic, not sure re Thomas)

So! If anyone out there has ANY info re this family - or can manage to find them in any census except the 1901 I would be eternally grateful!!

PS Mary buried in St Joseph's RC Cem, B'Ham

Many thanks

hi

Here they are in 1891 at 36 court 4 house farm street, Birmingham, in the Parish of St Stephen.  Thomas and Mary are both iron casters.
