Hi all.
Can anyone help me find a Pursey Walter READ, of Crayford, England, he was born in May 1903 and married a Dorothea Jessie STEWARD in 1916 in Dartford Kent, England, his parents were a Walter READ from Ramsgate, England and Emily HORTON from Maidstone, England.
I cannot find any death for him and his wife, i am wondering weather he emigrated to Australia some time after his marriage in 1926
I would be most grateful if someone could look this up for me or perhaps check the passenger lists for ships going out to Victoria Australia after 1926, i know this is a long shot but can find no trace of his death in England.
Thank you in advance not used this before so hope i have done this correctly. Sheila

hi again,
looked at the online justice site for any reference to children of Pursey and Dorothea READ nothing showing up, is there any other way of finding out if any children were born, and what became of them.
Thanks again.
Sheila

Can I wake him up, Mum?

Hi Sheila,
Unfortunately births for Victoria only go to 1920.
However, if you are able to do what Mum Mum suggested in her earlier message, and download the image of Pursey Walter's death certificate, that should contain the names of the children and probably their ages, which will give you an idea of when they were born.

Great that you found the information you wanted, Sheila.
Hope you don't mind me suggesting that you use the modify button and remove the name of the daughter from your last post in case she is still living. You can leave the other information.....just remove her name. We're not allowed to post details of possible living people.
And Rootschat is a great forum.....lots of really helpful people here.
Dee

Hi Pam
Know you have really got me thinking, didnt spot Emilys name on the Electoral Roll you gave me, Emily READ would have been Pursey's mother, so at some time she must have come over to either visit or live there, her husban Walter READ died in 1946 in England so she would have been a widow, i have got a death for her 20th October 1949 Erith, Kent England, but wasnt 100% sure that this was my Emily READ. Purseys daughter (am i alllowed to put her first name, i have her married name, but she was born in 1933 and could possibley still be alive - i put it only earlier but was asked nicely to take if off just in case) and now I have a hint for a UK Passenger List, and as the daughter was the informant at her father Pursey death in 1977, i am now wondering if she went out to England under her married name to collect her grandmother and bring her back to Victoria Australia to be with her son Pursey. If you can help me more with this i would appreciate it , i am now needing the Passenger list for the daughter out to the Uk and if she did come back with Emily READ or possibly Emily came out on her own between 1946 and 1949 and if she stayed and died in Australia and not England.
I can send the daughters married name by Personal Message if you think you can help me more.
Hope this all makes sense Thanks for pointing that out Sheila
