Completed Emmanuel or Edward? Barnes
« on: Sunday 01 November 09 15:08 UTC (UK) »

Hi

I have had a sudden breakthrough on the family history (isn't it great when that happens!) and got back to this guy. Emmanuel or Edward Barnes.

Born c. 1821 in Bristol and married probably Mar 1846 Bristol to either Mary Bull/Mary Donovan 11_190  Yet to find the exact details of the birthor marriage on IGI or anything else.

I believe he died sep 1894 aged 73 Barton Regis 6a_64

All the children that I can find births for IGI and FreeBMD appear to born in the Bristol/ Barton Regis areas.

However,  my problem occurs when looking at the census records.
I have them on the 1861 and 71 censuses.  and some of the children later on as I am descended from William Barnes who wentinto the military and later moved to London.
However, I can't find an emmanuel on the 1881 or 1891 census that fits.  There is however on the 1881 census an Edward Barnes that all the details seem to fit.  however in 1891 I can't see an Emmanuel or an Edward Barnes that fits.

Is it unusual for the name to change from Emmanuel to Edward - It is clearly Edward on the census record and can anyone suggest any where else I can look as I am new to researching in this part of the uk.  (can do all sources of records for Lincs!)

Thanks
