Michael Killerlane From Sligo
« on: Sunday 01 November 09 16:43 UTC (UK) »

Hi All
My GG/Grandfather Thomas Killerlane was born in Sligo in 1849,on his death certificate in Scotland it stated his father as Michael Killerlane occupation farmer and mother Margaret Killerlane, maiden name Gouravin. I am trying to find the marriage for Michael and Margaret, I cannot seem to find there marriage on Family Search. Any help will be gratefully appreciated.
Regards Dave.

The index to civil registration on LDS Pilot site covers Catholic marriages from 1864 (other marriages from 1845) so you might need to search for church records (if they exist).

Hi Aghadowey
Thanks for your quick reply.
MIchael was Roman Catholic, his children were Christened at Drumcliffe and Magherow, would there be many R.C churches in this location or would the records be held at the R.C Cathedral for the above diocese.
Thanks Dave.

Hi Doch,
Thanks for the information.
I have just found a Christening on Family Search for a Elizabeth Killerlane in Drumcliffe Sligo in October 1845 with the parents names given as Michael Killerlane and Margaret Gooravin, so the marriage is pre 1845. Were there any marriages for a Killerlane to a Gourivan/Gooravin around this time on the Sligo Heritage Site, in case their names had been mis-transcribed.
Thanks Dave.

hi dave.
i had another look,only two marriages pre 1845 for the surname killerlane 1.john 1812. 2.margaret 1835.
there is one possible match listed for margaret gooravin in 1837. unfortunately there is no match for this marriage in drumcliffe,or ahamlish(neibouring parish). its a bit of a lottery if you decide to buy these details as they cost 5 euro to view, but it could be worth it if they are the details you are looking for.

                                       good luck.doch.
