Street Directory look-up, 1920s Wallasey
« on: Sunday 01 November 09 19:02 UTC (UK) »

Trying to track someone who emigrated to the US from Merseyside in the 1920s. I believe they may have lived in Wallasey prior to emigrating.

Could SKP check from around 1920 to 1925-ish to see who is living at 45 Manor Road, Wallasey. In the 1901 census it is shown as being in Liscard.
Many thanks,
Dickiesam

Hello Celia,
Thank you for the response. I'd very much appreciate a look-up in that Manor Road 1920/21 directory and in later polling lists up to 1925.

Number 45 was, I believe, a 'family' home. The address was given on a ship's manifest as being the 'last UK address before boarding'. It was given more than once between 1920 and 1925 so I am wondering if the passengers were 'family'.

Thanks again,
Dickiesam

Hello Celia,
Great stuff! Many thanks for the look-up. It's BINGO time with the Lunt family being there. May ask you to see if they are still there in later years. But for now it's a brilliant result.

Had a look at your headstone records thread. What a wonderful undertaking. Are there plans afoot to transcribe the names and epitaph's etc and digitise them on the forum as a searchable source?

I have serious links with North Cheshire myself. While born in Liverpool I was reared (my mum would have said 'dragged up') on the Wirral and spent some years on Her Majesty's Service with the glorious 22nd of Foot, the Cheshire Regiment. And, had a great friends in Wallasey.

Thanks again for the assist.

Thank you for the reply P.m. I thought thats what you must have done Grin I am pleased to have found what you want.
Now what i was going to say was,I did look quickly at a couple of later books but 45 wasn't in them.I think maybe i looked to quick (I didn't want to walk home in the dark Grin) 45 Is in Manor road north ward so maybe i looked at south ward by mistake Roll Eyes are you trying to find out when they emigrated?

Those headstones (photos) and the transcriptions (a few pages of them). from headstons are all of Merchant seamen.Which i did over 2 years i think tramping round the cemetery Grin.I didn't photo all the headstones but the transcriptions are from them.I hope they have been of use to someone

Dickiesam
As promised
Later years re Poll books

1928/9  Lunt. Ann Jane & John Harold.
1930/31  Lunt.   Ann Jane
                          John Harold
                          Marion Rachel

They are the last entries for that address
2 different occupiers for 1932/3 so looks they were rented out, when the  Lunts left.
