My great grandmother, Lottie Dickins
|
I have a Matthew Bennett in my family tree, who gives his birthplace as variously St Paul's, Bristol or Bristol. He was married to Ruth, and I *think* my great great grandmother, his daughter, Elizabeth, was also born in Bristol in 1854 although she wasn't baptised until they moved to London four years later.
His birthdate would be around 1810 from the census returns. I don't have any other information about him except that he is variously shown as a collector or superintendent in the census and on his daughter's baptismal record.
Thank you :-).

Hi Caliandris,
Sorry, this is not much help with earler records of Matthew - just to say the family are already in Middlesex in 1851:
1851 HO107/1525 351 46 St Giles Cripplegate, Middlesex 6 Youngs Buildings Mathew Bennett, head, 41, Currier Journeyman, b. Bristol Ruth, wife, 38, b. Devon Git** Alfred, son, 18, Hatter Journeyman, b. Bristol Eliza, dau, 12, b. do. Edwin D, son, 9, b. do. Luke, son, 4, b. London William Smith, lodger, unm, 22, Currier Journeyman, b. Bristol James W Morgan, lodger, unm, 18, Smith Blk Journeyman, b. do.
Luke was christened at Islington in 1848. (Strangely, Edwin Daniel was christened later than Luke - at age 9 - in 1851)
