Sarah was my g g grandmother born in Greenwich 1826/7. She married in 1848 at St Pancras church when her father was shown as John Hayward, Occ. Carver. John was a witness as was Elizabeth Hayward who I assume must have been sister or mother. I haven't been able to get a definite fix on her birth/ baptismal records so would value any support from forum members who have access to London/Kent records of the period.
In later years Sarah sometimes referred to her birthpalce as Bethnal Green - I suspect family may have moved there when she was young.
I have come across the following family living at Stucley Terrace, St Pancras in the 1841 census which for reasons too complex to explain I thought may have been the right, Sarah-less family-
HAYWARD John M 43 1798 HAYWARD Ann F 46 1795 HAYWARD Ann F 26 1815 Middlesex HAYWARD George M 18 1823 Middlesex HAYWARD Sophia F 11 1830 Middlesex HAYWARD Elizabeth F 12 1829 Middlesex HAYWARD Emma F 9 1832 Middlesex PORTER Susan F 53 1788 PORTER Susanna F 25 1816
Many thanks

I think MaryA may have found the right person baptised in Woolwich. Maybe Sarah lied about her age when she married ?
We really need to know all you know about Sarah, especially proving that the marriage that you have in 1848 is the right one.
