Hi
I have looked on the IGI and found a John Hodson b1822 Great Mitton Yorks, mother Mary Hodson, could be misspelt. I don't know if Gt Mitton is the same as Mytton not knowing Yorks too well.

Does the marriage cert give John's occupation?  Any clues with the witnesses?

There is a John Hodgson b1823 Mytton on the 1881 census: Do you have this?
wife Hannah
son John
son Thomas
visitor Harriet Hodgson
lodger Richard Laytham

Hi Jean
Thanks for that , yes we have john in 1881 all the way to 1851 were we see him with his mother we belive. He is down as farm servant aged 28 unmarried above him is Mary Hodgson Kitchen servant unmarried aged 51 from Bowland forest lower, Yorkshire.
On marriage cert name is spelt Hodgon instead of Hodgson married a Hannah Charnock in 1859 . 1851 census has them working at the same house .

Hi Ian,

So glad it helped. Have you found him on the 1841? The name could be misspelt again.
