For anyone who has read my thread about the sisters who emigrated to Canada, and seen the wonderful restores I had, here is a picture of the parents of those lovely girls.
Would you say that this picture is taken at the same time as the one of the girls, say c1910?
Any cleaning or colouring very much appreciated. I think this is a great picture, too!

oooh, thank you Carolyn, Hippy and Wendy, how lovely!!
You are all such stars. 
Carolyn, this happy couple managed to have three sons that I know about, so a long, but happy family, in Bolton Lancashire and then in Vancouver. A total of 5 out of the 7 of the girls went to Vancouver (I am in touch with the daughter of one of them, and the granddaughter of another) and 1 of the boys. And a couple of the others also visited.
I gather from one of my Canadian contacts that they maintained a very healthy Lancashire society there!

By the way, China, yes it is black and white as sent through to me. The sender points out that there is blurring at the bottom of the photo which is in the photo itself, not the scan.
However, I think by this time they'd mastered the focusing, so do you think this is meant to be artistic effect, or just not a very good photographer?

I've attempted to make it look slightly different by sharpening it up and adding texture, if you don't like it there's nothing lost !!

Apologies for my delay in thanking your for your lovely interpretations, Pels, have been away this week.
I really like the texture you've added, which adds depth to what is otherwise a quite light image. I think the first one works best, though both are really good.
Thank you and everybody for all the great work. I'm looking forward to sending these off to the Canadian connections, who are so thrilled by the results.

The granddaughter of this couple is absolutely loving the pictures, although she says that she can't imagine "cuddling up" to this pair.
