Watkins STANDEN of Mitcham

I recently found the marriage of my ancestor Sophia STANDEN. She married in 1811, and the 1851 census lists her birthplace as Mitcham, Surrey. I went to the IGI and there is one entry that is probably correct, at Mitcham:

Sophia STANDEN
bap. 25 May 1790
Father: Watkins STANDEN

No mother or anything else is given. I can't find anything about any Watkins Standen, making me wonder if it was just transcribed incorrectly or something. I can't find any other children of him.

So basically any ideas would be helpful at this point.

I can only find a burial for a Mary Standen 3/11/1791 (no age) in Mitcham on the Surrey Burial Index.
The only other Standen baptism I found on the IGI was this rather odd one;
John Thomas Standen baptised 7/10/1792, Mitcham.  S/o Tobias Mitchel & Mary Standen.  Looks to me as if John Thomas was illegitimate but Mary has named the father with or without his consent.
Also can't find a marriage for Watkins on the Surrey Marriage Index  Undecided

Thanks Jane, I also saw that John T. Standen born 1792 and thought it a bit strange - don't know if there's a connection though. It's possible that the Mary Standen who died in 1791 was Sophia's mother but there is no way of proving it at this point.
