thank you very much for your reply, i get more confused every day there are so many hugh and james stewarts, i made a mistake on my last post the hugh i am looking for would be born around 1853, as you can see by the certificate, this is what i know my grandfather john/jock stewart m rachel douglas was born in kieth banfshire in 1910 his father hugh stewart m jean/jane whyte, hugh was supposed to be burried in the grounds of dr greys hospital in elgin they had a son james/jimmy who was born around 1871 so we think hugh was married before as it is i would imagin to big of an age gap i think there was 2 sisters i will ask my father for more info and come back later by for now

yes i see that now, we always suspected he was married before as there is to much difference between hugh and brother james, i have another certificate, i also have a death certificate for catherine mother of hugh stewart but it is for 1880, on hughs marriage cert it dosnt say deceased is that usual ? i believe hugh and janes family were james my grandfather john/jock and 2 sisters mary and nelly

sorry there were 3 sons james , john , and hugh and 3 daughters mary nelly and kate. also if john/my grandad was born in 1910 that means his father hugh was 57 when john was born hugh jnr was born around 1912 so hugh snr would have been around 60 the mother jane would be about 42 possible i suppose?

supposed to be burried in the grounds of dr greys hospital elgin?
That surprises me, because I have never heard of there being a burial ground at Dr Gray's Hospital. There are certainly no records that I know of.
The index at SP says that a Hugh Stewart, aged 62, died in Elgin in 1913. Have you checked this death certificate on www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk? The age is a year or two out, but that's not unusual.

Hi Cookie3, Sorry I cannot add to your info on the Stewarts but I'd like to point out that you're not supposed to post a full copy of the certificates online because of copyright issues.Try & scan only the relevant part that you're querying/debating & that should be ok.There are topics on this subject on rootschat! Regards, flst
