Hello all,

Does anyone have experience with tracking down children that were removed from their parents?  I have been told of two children by the name of Doody, both girls, who were taken from their mother sometime between 1910 and 1920, in the Wellington region perhaps.  This information comes from a family member who vaguely recalls the story, and can remember the girls but not their names.  It was thought maybe at some stage the girls were then taken in by family but nobody is exactly sure they have the right story.  Sorry I am rambling Wink  Girls parents were Thaddeus Doody and Margaret Alice Doody divorced in 1921 but dysfunctional before that.

1909/3735 Margaret Alice  Griffin  Thaddeus Edward  Doody 

Births not showing as after 1909.

There was the Home of Compassion at Island Bay that took in children.

Thanks so much, i will get in touch with barnados as well.
There is nothing on archway for my Doody girls, but  there are some files on catholic children which have been boarded out.I need to go in to archives in Christchurch this week so will see what they might have on wards of state.

Just an add on,  this morning I have found a son for Margaret and Thaddeus, he was Edward Eric Doody-Earle born june 1912 died 1974 . Another mystery for me re the Doody-Earle Huh
