I cannot view further information but a Jacob Bromnick got married in 1938 in Middlesex, England.

You mentioned he had passed prior to 1916 - is there a chance he went back to England (rather than passing in America)?

Could not find Myer Hirsch anywhere (in New York, in 1910).  Did not see his arrival.

Hi Lisa,

This is a wall we hit also.

The Jacob that you found and who married in England was my G-Grandfather’s son (and obviously my Grandfather’s brother).  So next generation… honestly, we know that the original Jacob (Myer’s and Rose’s son) would have died by 1916 as in their faith, my G-Grandfather would not have named a child after a living person.  Myer Hirsh Bromnick was born in London in 1918; therefore the original Myer would have died by then also.

Myer and Jacob (the originals) just seem to disappear in NY and we have not been able to make the connection to NY. It’s a bit of a mystery.  A cousin in England found a telephone directory record for Rose in NY in the 1930’s I believe (I can’t put my hand on it right now) but it is under the name ‘Bromnick’; however,  I can find nothing for her as far as a death record or Census information. So they all disappear in NY, the Brontmans’ line from Sarah Bromnick continues.

The names has many variations as I believe their accents must have been terribly strong!
So, that is why I am trying to find the names of the people at the address on Orchard St and now (thanks to you...) we cam follow-up on the 52 Ridge St address.

Can you please tell me what sources I might be able to use to specifically look up addresses? Can it be done through ancestry.com if you are a member? On the UK census, I can look up addresses. It costs money to get all the details, but when I find the address, it gives me the basics, at least. Like the head of the family.

Many thanks again!

No, you can't look up by street on Ancestry, but the street finder on this site might help you:  http://stevemorse.org/
