YOUNG family
« on: Monday 02 November 09 08:30 UTC (UK) »

My ggrandfathers eldest son Charles Edward YOUNG was born in Newport Monmouthshire S Wales, he grew up in Bath, but by 1898 is married to Helen BRITTON and living at (I think this is right) 24 Goodramgate where his first son Lawrence Charles is born.

By 1911 the family are living at 12 College St York, where Charles and Helen have three children, Arthur Edward 7, John Lawton 2, and Eileen Mary 8mnths. Charles is in various trade directories as a 'sweet shop and confectioner' (obvious given that chocolate was manufactured in York then)

I have a little postcard written by Charles sometime in the early 1920s to his half brother (my grandfather ) showing where the sweet shop is in College St, and a modern day photo of the same area. And I do know that, at some time my grandfather would visit his brother to attend York races. My grandfather died in 1939 and was at least ten years younger than Charles.

Is there anybody out there descended from this York side of my family? Could give them some info of the Youngs who originated in Wiltshire.

Anne
