Hi Simmo, I am researching the Stephenson family of Hull, but the two Richards I am researching died much later and I don't think they are related, that said I have had trouble in the past trying to establish where they are buried.

It might be an idea to send an email to Hull City Council, as they will look at the location of the graves.  If you find it's location I will quite happily get you photos and the inscription if it is situated in Hull.

Hi Mike
My Neice and I are researching Stephenson in Hull we also live in Hull and have been in touch with the bereavment services who kindly looked for us and no sign of him in any cemetery they have records for. we also have someone who looked in the general cemetery but he is not there either. So we are thinking churchyards and will be going to Beverley archives when time permits.Could you tell me a little about your Stephensons to see if there is any connection.
Regards
Janet

The Stephenson's I am researching were a milling family from the Sculcoates area.  Richard Stephenson married Isabella Dawber in the 1830's, but Richard didn't pass away until 1889.

I have been looking for their family grave for years, and know he was buried in Hull, as the newspaper reports of the time said so, sadly there are no records of it.

I tried Hull City Archives, East Riding Archives in Beverley, Local Studies in Hull, Carnegie Heritage Centre and Bridlington Archives but could find no official record of his burial.  I also searched the East Yorkshire Family History Society books for grave transcripts but again found nothing.

Isabella Dawbers side of the family were listed as being buried in Spring Bank Cemetery, I got the grave transcription from a book, but the grave has long gone.
