Hi all
I am looking for the name Moscrisp, can't find it in Scotland. is it a Northumberland name.??  I would love to know as I have never seen it before,
and it is in my family tree

There are no people called Moscrisp in the 1881 Census but there are 24 people called Moscrip in these counties;

Roxburghshire   6   
Midlothian   6   
Lanarkshire   4   
Berwickshire   3   
Lincolnshire   3   
Yorks W.Riding   1   
Middlesex           1   

There are also 450  Moscrop mainly in Lancashire and Cumberland. There are 16 Moscrips in the list of surnames in use in England, Wales and the Isle of Mann in September 2002.

Thank`s a million for your help, it was making me nuts tying to find ,It happens
to be my G G G G G Grandmother,s name Isabella Moscrisp   I think it,s a lovely name, I wish it had been my name.
