Birth record of Elizabeth Belshaw born Dublin circa 1855

Hi,

I was wondering if a kind forum member could assist me in finding the birth record of Elizabeth Belshaw who was born in Dublin circa 1855. At the time of her birth her father, John J Belshaw was a soldier in the British army. I'm not sure of her mothers name.

Any assistance would be very much appreciated

There are two details you need to know to locate pre civil registration (1864) records - religion and parish..

A few parish records for county Dublin (excluding the city area) are available on the pay-website of the Irish Family History Foundation at www.irish-roots.ie  Microfilms of Catholic records are available in the National Library - see : www.nli.ie/en/parish-register.aspx  Surviving Church of Ireland records are available in the Representative Church Body in Rathfarnham : http://ireland.anglican.org/library/

Most of the Barracks were located in the City area.

Hi Shane, Sorry in the delay in getting back to you.

I appreciated your pointers in Dublin births. A Dublin born relative is a first for me so I was at a total loss. I think Elizabeth was a Catholic so will go down that route first.
