Hi michelene
I don't see a New Zealand marriage record for Jeremiah LAWLER (LAWLOR) ??
There is a probate record (will) available through Archives New Zealand (Auckland Office).
LAWLER - Jeremiah - of Matamata, retired - 1992
Should you wish to purchase the probate record, further details can be found at > >

Hi michelene
There is a "Jeremiah LAWLER - Born 1919" travelling from Southampton to Wellington NZ, 1930.
See "findmypast" website.

Many thanks for the reply, he was a school friend of my father who was born in 1908 and i do have letters from him to my father dated 1971/72 and his address is as the above. As for dates of birth they are often very unreliable. I do not know if Jer ever married or had children but i will order the certs and take it from there. I would just like to know what became of him after the mid 1970's for closure so to speak. Once again thanking you. M

Hi michelene
If you can wait a few days, I'll see if I can find a copy of the death notice for this Jeremiah - it may give some helpful details.

Many thanks Lu, you were correct about the date of birth, i read one of Jer Lawlers letters dated 1972 and in it he mentions that he is 55, i then checked a Carlow Ireland site and there is a Jeremiah Lawler born Jan-March 1917. Ill be working away for about a week or so but please dont give yourself too much bother looking for info, i was just taking a chance that someone might know something off the top of their heads. All the best M

merci beaucoup for this, earlier this year i wrote to the address on the 1972 letters but it was returned unopened and marked house unoccupied. I dont know if Jer Lawler was the owner or tenant or maybe a lodger there. I met him in Dublin Ireland in 1967 and he had been searching for his brother Ben for over 30 years but he never found him not up to 1974 anyway. Thank you, M.

Hmm .... I wonder if a member of the church congregation might remember him ?
