Worcester Marriage 1920
« on: Tuesday 03 November 09 02:13 UTC (UK) »

Hi
Would appreciate any help or advise you could give.

On the Free Births Deaths & Marriages a Joseph Heeks married June 1920 Worcester 6C 424 only 58% to Wilson but no christian name, I believe this is my Great Aunt Ellen Matilda Wilson nee Parker.
I have been waiting for about four or five months to find the lady's name.
Is there an easier way to find out?
Can I order the Marriage Certificate as it is or do I have to wait for that percentage to rise up to about 99%? to find out the lady' name?

Thank you for any assistance.

Colin

Hi Colin

Depends on whether you want to afford a risk!

If you know the names of any children the couple had, the quickest way might be to look for the registration of their birth(s).

For example, if you know they had a child Colin born c 1930 then the record would state Colin HEEKS with mother's maiden name PARKER.  If there are several possibilities in the right area, then you might have to take a punt on the marriage certificate.

If you don't know the children's names, it is still worth looking for registrations, as the name HEEKS is pretty unusual I'd have thought?

Since there's a good chance that any children of this couple are still alive, please don't post their names here.

Kind regards, Arranroots  Wink

p.s. the % is just an indication of what percentage of the records for that quarter has been transcribed so far.
