What area is this.... totally confused ?

Hi all trying to locate my family in the cardigan area. But i am totally confused on the area it seems to have so many names. Does anyone have information on the Llanfihangel D C, Eglwys Fach, Montgomery, Machynlleth, Sguborycoed and MacHynlleth. Is this all the same area.
Would love some information or any hints on the history of the area.
