St Peter's Huddersfield registers 1730s Completed
« on: Tuesday 03 November 09 09:02 UTC (UK) »

If anyone has access to a St Peter's registers index, I would be pleased to know if any abode or occupation is mentioned for Thomas GLEDHILL, father of:
Sarah chr 3.12.1729
Mary chr 9.4.1736
Mary and John chr 17.3.1737

Thanks,

Lesley

I've got the booklets for that period but I'm afraid they very rarely give much additional detail.

These are the baptisms you mention:

2.12.1729 Sarah Gledhill d/o Thomas. Abode: Fartown
9.4.1736 May Gledhill d/o Thomas  Abode: Fartown
17.3.1737/8 John & Mary (twins) c/o Thomas  Abode: Longwood

Hi Jill

Thank you very much for the information.

It is potentially useful, as Fartown and Longwood are both places where coal was being mined at that period, and Thomas was a collier, according to an Almondbury baptism of 1734 when he was working at Longley Hall. (If only all vicars had been such sticklers for detail as Edward Rishton!)

Regards,

Lesley
