Looking for any information regarding Jacob Henry Hayes b 1863 but I don't know where. He is listed in the Tasmanian Colonial Archive as marrying Ann Smith (b 1858) in 1884. Jacob died in Hobart, Tasmania in 1936.
They had the following children (all born in Tasmania, Australia): Ethel Annie b 1886 Alice May b 1888 John Henry b 1889 Francis George b 1891 Maude Mary b 1893 Maude OR Mabel Lillian b 1897 Albert Edward b 1899
I have no information on his parents, or where he was born. I also don't have a great deal on Ann Smith other than her parents were George Talbot Smith (possibly born England) and Catherine Sheen/Sheehan (possibly born Ireland).
Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Tasmanian Federation Indexes don`t have deaths for 1936 so I can`t give you the Registration number if you wanted to apply for his death certificate. The certificate may or may not give you details of where he was born.Contacting the BDM in Tasmania will give you the information on applying for his death certificate.
Jacob Henry Hayes is buried Cornelian Bay Cemetery Hobart. Methodist section DD grave number 82. He was buried 8-07-1936. No next of kin or other details.
Albert Edward Hayes [son]buried[cremated] same Cemetery.Cremated 16-08-1958 AUST.IMP. FORCE ARCH.Section 1 South number 6. Next of kin Merle Irene Hayes [wife] Last address 124 Augusta Road Lenah Valley Tasmania.
John Henry Hayes [son]buried 30-08-1960 at same Cemetery. Church of England, section CF grave number 256. Next of kin Laura Gertrude Hayes. Last address10 Shackelton Street Warrane Tasmania.
I could not find a birth for Ann Smith with parents George and Catherine. Also Ann doesen`t seem to be buried at Cornelian Bay Cemetery.

Hello, If Jacob Henry Hayes died in 1936 in Hobart there is a good chance that he will be in an undertakers records and that has space for place of birth, which should be a big help. Hold on a few days until I can check - Tas. cert. are expensive and take a long time to arrive.
Wivenhoe.

Good morning
I've just had a look at the Funeral Directors record and Jacob Henry is listed as being 74yrs he died at the New Town Rest Home on 6/7/1936 and that he was born in Hobart. There apparently is other information available, but of course this will cost you to find that out....sometimes has the number of hearses used and may be a cause of death. The ref no is:Book No 1-1936 - ref: 82/568 & second ref 82a/645. The info is obtainable from the Tasmanian Family History Society.
Unfortunately, there isn't a grave stone for Jacob Henry.
My index for the Mercury Newspaper only goes up to 1930, but I'll have a look this week when I go to the local library for a death notice.
Regards
