Charlotte - Who?

George Carey (baptised in Warminster, Wiltshire on 4 January 1804) married a Charlotte who according to the Censuses was born in Enborne, Berkshire about 1801. Their first child (George) was born in Warminster in 1828.

Can anyone find the marriage for George Carey to Charlotte (possibly Miles) and the baptism for Charlotte?

Is this them in the 1841 census in East Street, Warminster - George is a Chaise Driver:

George Carey 35
Charlotte Carey 37
George Carey 13
Mary Carey 11
Charlotte Carey 8
Ellen Carey 4
Eliza Carey 2

If so, you could get the birth certificate for Eliza which should give her mother's maiden name:

Hi Ermy,

I already have Eliza's birth certificate and although it is not very clear the name looks like 'Miles' (hence, my reference to Miles in the original post) although it could perhaps be, say, 'Mills'. The birth certificate also states that she was formerly of 'Enborne near Newbury'.

What I am looking for is Charlotte's marriage to George Carey and her baptism so that I can find her parents.

We know that, but more often than not you need to go step by step and in this case the next step would be to get Eliza's birth cert ... and we didnt know you already had that!!

now I am going to ask another question - have you got the famiily in 1851 (if Charlotte still alive) and if so where does she give as her place of birth? And where does George (oldest known child) give as his, as that might give a clue as to where their early married life (and therfore possibly their marriage) took place.

In the 1851 Census George and Charlotte are living at 47 East Street, Warminster. George's place of birth is confirmed as Warminster and Charlotte's place of birth is confirmed as Enborne.

The eldest son's place of birth is Warminster. He married Harriet Pearce in Warminster in January 1850.

Charlotte died in February 1891 in Salisbury. George died in December 1888 in Salisbury.

I know George and Charlotte did not marry in Warminster. Therefore, there is some likelihood they married in Enborne. However, the registers for Enborne are not in the IGI.

IGI has christenings for the children, but no marriage.
