Hi All,
I hope someone can please help me locate William Sissons and his wife Mary, they were my 3 x GreatGrandparents, the only info I have is from the IGI and the 1861 census where William aged 64 is living wife his daughter Elizabeth and her husband in Manchester. William was born c1795 I think Cotmanhay Derbyshire (from 1861 census) and Mary C1803, they  had 6 children, William born 1829, Harriet 1831, mary 1835, Elizabeth 1837, George Enoch 1839 and Charlotte 1841, all christened Eastwood Notts.
I would be most grateful if kind soul can locate them.
Kind Regards

Hi Tati,
Thank you so much for this it's very much appreciated. On 1851 it looks like Hilestone to me too, will have to check it out. Also another Charlotte on 1841, looks like I will have a lot to do.
Thank you again
Kind Regards

Hope this helps

The placename in the image is Ilkeston, Derby sometimes spelt Ilkestone on old documents.  The locals pronounce it Ilson and even I couldn't understand their broad accent even though I was born and brought up a few miles away in Long Eaton and lived there for 21 years.

Regards

My 3x G Grandfather was Gervase Sisson (sometimes written as jarvis.

he was born c. 1819 in Cotmanhay nr Ilkeston Derbys  Occupation Coal miner

He lived in Eastwood Notts at time of marriage and married at greasley parish Church - and then spent most of his married life in Underwood Notts (still in Greasley parish)

His father was Joseph Sisson a coal miner

Gervase gave his children ery similar names to those of your Willim's children

Hi Mike and Suz,
Thank you Mike for telling me Hileston is Ilkeston, I'm not very familiar with the area and it would have probably taken me ages to realize.
Thank you Suz for the info on Kimberley Field and also the info on your 3x GreatGrandfather, there could well be a connection.
The info I have so far on William is;
born 1795 Cotmanhay Derbyshire (from 1861 census) died Mar qtr 1863 Chorlton Manchester
married Mary Leaves 3 Oct 1831 Worksop Notts (per IGI) I think
William born 1829, Harriet 1831, Mary 1835, Elizabeth 1837, George Enoch 1829 and Charlotte 1841, all born Eastwood Notts.
I found on the IGI a William Sisson born 4 Feb 1799, Ilkeston parents Thomas and Mary, but I don't know how I can prove one way or the other that this is my William.
Kind Regards
Beannie
