Old Ballarat photo?
« on: Tuesday 03 November 09 11:56 UTC (UK) »

This lovely old photo from my wife's grandmother (Atkinson) family album. Unfortunately no one knows who the people are or where it was taken It is probably a Ballarat terrace house, and most likely related to her Atkinson relatives.Isn't it a great photo? Must be late 1870's or 1880's?

Hi rdarby  Smiley

It is a fabulous photo, I love it!  I'd say you're spot on with the date, the lady's dress looks about 1880 to me.

If you haven't already, you may like to consider donating the photo, or a scan of it, to the Ballarat Historical Society.  They have an active project to collect old photos of Ballarat:
