Hugh Bairds Glasgow

Hi.Wondering if anybody here knows if The Mitchell or any other such archive place has any employee records for Hugh Bairds?My granda was a Maltman there from about 1945 until the mid to late 60's.
My mum is going back to Glasgow for a few days this month and is going to the Mitchell for other family tree stuff and I was wondering if the Archives would hold anything like that?
I know some big companies(like Guinness here in Dublin) are quite good at keeping archive records but seeing as my Granda was made redundant and the place closed I don't know wether the same would apply there.

Would appreciate any help or a point in the right direction Smiley

Hi Annette,

Perhaps you have been to Mitchell now. If not  some limited help.
The Mitchell has a brilliant index record in their Family Search section. You can look under Baird or Breweries to see if listed. The Librarians are knowledgeable and helpful so you can ask at desk.

It may be worthwhile phoning or emailing your enquiry. Google Mitchell to find email address.

I omitted to tell you that some business archives are held in University Archives near Kelvingrove Park.

I googled Hugh Baird Brewers Glasgow and up popped the firm. The University Archives hold them. Have a look and contact them to see if they have what you seek.

You can view records there but you have to make an appointment.
