Hello everybody 
This is my first time posting on the American board so please bear with me if it is posted in the wrong place!
My mother and I are doing our family tree and at the moment my mother is researching her cousin Fr John P Bradley who moved to America from Glasgow Scotland in the early late 1940's early1950's.
He went to Belmont Abbey College in Belmont,North Carolina where he was President.The Bradley Instutute within the Abbey was named in honour of him.He was also a former CEO and Chairman of the Board of Good will Publishers in Charlotte N Carolina.He also authored over 20 books and seemed to be quite successful and happy.
He corresponded with my gran up until her death in 1998.
It was only when my mother was researching Fr John so that she could contact him that she found out that he died on 8th November 2003( from the Bradley institute Website).
What my mother would like to do is get a copy of his death cert to have for her family tree.Basically can someone tell me were we can obtain this.Are the BMD OF NC online or do we have to write and if so were do we write to?
My mother would be extremely grateful for any help or push in the right direction!
We both live in Ireland so a visit is out of the question!

The North Carolina death records database says that John Paul Bradley, born 18 Jun. 1919 outside the US, resided in Charlotte, North Carolina, and died 8 Nov. 2003 in Burnsville, Virginia and was an in-patient in a hospital. I'm surprised he showed up on the North Carolina database, because usually death certificates are issued in the state where the person died.

You can also see him on the Social Security Death Index, which is available for free on www.rootsweb.com or www.familysearch.org. It says his last residence was Virginia Beach, VA, and his Social Security number was issued in New York between 1951-1953.

In case you're interested, I found an article in the Gastonia Gazette, Gastonia, North Carolina from 1977 that involves questions given to local community leaders about their favorite pastimes, etc. One of the leaders question was Fr. Bradley, and there is a picture of him. If you'd like me to e-mail it to you, send me your e-mail address in a private message. I also found a few other articles about the Belmont Abbey College that have pictures of Fr. Bradley. One of them has Fr. Bradley sitting next to then-Congressmen/future President Gerald Ford.

We have a date of birth now as mum wasnt sure of his exact date of birth.After I have posted this and then fed the kids I will have a look at those sites.I will pm you with my email address as my mum would love to see a photo of him.I was googling away about him and found the site for Belmont Abbey but couldn't find any photos.
