Mispelling?

I have just obtained my wife`s great grans death certificate foe 1892 & it states cause of death as what looks like Philusis or could be Philisis
Is this a mispelt Syphlis or was there such an illness(I have checked medical books in vain

i would imagine it is Phithis , an old name for TB

Phthisis actually. Presumably of greek origin.

Yes, it is Greek.  Type define Pthisis into google search and you get loads of dictionary links.
