Hello

I am looking for Edward Austin Kitchingman born 1864 Felling, Gateshead Died 1930 In Gateshead.

I can find Edward with his wife and children in 1891 (Kitchingman), 1901 (Kitchengame) and 1911 (Kitchingham).

I am however having trouble finding him in 1871 and 1881. 

I believe his patents were Joel and Jane Kitchingman.

Joel Kitchingman was born abt 1838 in leeds.  Jane (nee stoker) born in Tweedmouth, Northumberland.  I have found these 2 in 1901 with a spelling of Kitchenman, and Joel as a Widower in 1911 but cannot find anything prior to 1901 for these two.

They had at least one other child called William Stoker Kitchingman born 1862 felling, gateshead.  he died in 1881.

Any pointers would be great.

1891 Census Joel ( trans. as Jod) and Jane still at Nursery Cottages ( where they were on C1871)  C1871 page ref 4172-41-33. as Hitchingmam or whatever.

Although it looks as though they were in Heworth/Felling from about 1`860 for the rest of their lives, there is no sign of any of them on 1881 census, in that area ( or any other)

irret, I think Joel was "Cloth dresser" on C1851. The tall letter is an example of the reversed letter " f" used as the first letter "s" when there were two consecutive letters "s".

Sorry to both of you I could have sworn I'd replied to you on this.  Thanks for the help, I'll leave the 1881 and come back another day.  I have had other relatives that are missing on 1861 census and have later found then under a completely different transcribed name so will revisit.  And others that have just never surfaced.
