Printed on plain card (card 4.8cm x 8cm; image 4.5cm x 7.3cm).

I have seen a photograph of one of my uncles wearing similar clothing.  He was born 1908.

No, there is nothing on the back.  It is printed on plain card.

I think it may be the first of a sequence of three (the other two attached), showing the same person at different ages.

I think the latest image may be from 1914 - 1918 as he is wearing a lapel badge.  He looks about 18 to me, so at a guess, either he's just joined up or is on leave.  In either case, the badge could be an "on war service" badge (or similar) though details can't be made out:-(

I'm less certain that the image of the two boys is really part of the sequence as the other two are studio shots and this one is outside (and maybe therefore amateur?).  For it to fit the sequence it would have to be approx 1904 - 1908.

The coat of photo 1 was popular during the decade 1910-20 but I have seen the dropped belt & buckle style as early as 1905 but only on sailor suits.
The pose & Art Deco bench is more a feature of 1910-20 & as this is not a postcard (as it's plain backed) I would suggest a date of 1915-20.
The 2nd. could be 20's or 30's but as they're still in boots rather than shoes I would suggest 20's.
The 3rd. I would say is post WW1,his collar bar was a style from around 1915 & his slicked back hair was a style associated with the 20's./30's. so could be any part of the 20's.I would say.
I can see one of the boys in the 2nd. being the young chap in the 3rd. but not so sure about the 1st.
