William Dixon - emigration? Complete
« on: Tuesday 03 November 09 20:38 UTC (UK) »

I have lost a whole branch of my family  - very careless I know... Roll Eyes

William Dixon b. 1873 Long Sutton, m. Elizabeth Spray and they had two girls, Elsie b. c1898 Thmaes Ditton, Surrey and Ethel, b. 1899 also Thames Ditton.

I have them in 1901, but I have searched the 1911 census in vain for all of them.

It is unlikey they all died, so the next best guess is emigration.

Has anyone access to emigation records they could look up for me please - or any other ideas?

Thanks

meles

Hi Meles

There are only 2 William Dixons on FMP - one left before 1901

The other sailed 9th Feb 1909 from Liverpool to Boston aboard the Saxania. He was a mechanic. It looks as if he was travelling with an Eliz Dixon, housewife and two children Arthur (child) and James(infant) . No sign of Elsie and Ethel.  This could be the family I suppose if the girls had died and the boys were born after the census.

obviously due to doing searches for 1911
i cannot post any info but they ARE DEFFO on the 1911
put in Ethel Dixon EXACT birth 1899 and in lambeth you will find them Wink

other children also you may not know about, states married 15 years which is 1896
and that is the same year your William and Elizabeth married

Thanks for looking Jan.

And thank you, Les - I have followed your advice and found them.

Not sure why the reference was for Lambeth when they were not born there, but it's definitely them. So not only found my mislaid ancestors, but found 3 more children - woo hoo!
