Hi Leandra

Your other thread gave the name as "Edward Eric DOODY-EARLE" and based on that, I'd found a probate record ex Rotorua Court , for an "Edward Eric EARLE - 1976"... who may the the same person.   Huh

I'm just adding the info here in case this assists further in finding a burial / cemetery record.

This looks a distinct possibilty for a Mary DOODY (who married).

NZ Death

2002 - FAIRWEATHER - Mary -  d.o.b.   5 September 1913
 Huh

A 2002 death may not appear on the burial locator ?
[I stand to be corrected.   Cheesy ]

Hi Leandra,
I have found the following info in the NZ records, hope some of it may be of help to you:-

Mary Doody married 1934 (folio 07463) Reginald George Fairweather.
Mary (Mollie) born 5/9/1913 died 2002 (Reg.No. 21906)

All I could find for Edward Doody was school records 1917-1923

There is a death record for Phadus Edward Doody aged 72 years for 1959 (Reg. No. 20802)

Also a marriage record for Thaddeus Edward Doody to Margaret Alice Griffin in 1909 (folio 4915)

I presume Phadus/Thaddeus are Edward's father?

A good idea to make a note of this information above ... before the Moderator MOVES it !     (We are not permitted to publish in this RootsChat forum, details of marriages from the NZ Index, which occurred after 1928 !)    Wink

Thankyou so very much for that info. I wonder if you could tell me where you found Edwards school records?

Many thanks

I am from "down under" & the New Zealand Genealogy Society have a disc with information on it called NZSG Index version 5.   Are you in NZ too and if so do you belong to the NZSG??

The following info is what I have found under school records for the Doody family:-

Edward Doody:
School admission date         School attended
11/07/1917                          Lyall Bay, Wellington
10/09/1918                          Omata, New Plymouth
01/02/1923                          Fitzroy, New Plymouth
11/06/1923                          Central, New Plymouth
11/09/1923                          Porewa, Rangitikei

Molly Doody
13/10/1919                          Taita South, Lower Hutt, Wellington
06/03/1922                          Omata, New Plymouth
06/02/1923                          Fitzroy, New Plymouth
11/06/1923                          Central, New Plymouth

Peter Ronald Doody
02/02/1931                           Milford, Auckland
Edgar Doody
26/06/1918                           Bromley  ?

The following attended Warea School, Taranaki
John Joseph Doody          14/10/1946
Eileen Doody                    22/03/1920
Hannah Doody                 30/08/1918
May Doody                       29/08/1916

Mary (Molly) Fairweather's death notice was in the Wellington newspaper with details held by the Hutt Vallye NZSG branch, so presumably she died in the Hutt Valley, Wellington area.

If I can help further don't hestitate to contact me.

Hi again Mel,

I am in NZ but not a member of NZSG do you recommend it? I've heard people on here say they hold certificates.

You are so very kind to type up all that info for me, its wonderful.  They must have been moving around a bit, I believe the kids were in state care which I am still looking into.

Again thanks so much Mel Cheesy

Hi Leandra,
I am not a member of NZSG anymore, but I do have access to some info.  I did find it useful to be a member in the early stages of my research.   They do have copies of some certificates, but depends if others have submitted them.  If   you let me know where you are at with your research I will look and see if anyone has submitted material about the family.

Hi Leandra

I don't know whether or not you've spotted it, but on your other thread I made mention that obtaining the divorce record for the parents, might well assist with determining what happened to these children - when they were put into care - what custody arrangements had been made for them etc.    Smiley
