Hi Cathy,

nice to see you back on here.

I see on free bmd a marriage for Thomas Samuel Tarling and Alice Louisa White in Luton Dec qtr 1894. Probably them i suppose.
I'll try doing some census stuff now.

Follow up..........
Probably not them.... 1901 census has them living in Walthamstow thomas and Alice are both 31 years old with children with William Henry age 4 and Brice David age 1.

Back to the drawing board.

Regards,

Hi Cathayb,

Sorry to hear you have not been well, get better soon.

I have done a quick search on Ancestry for Selina in 1891, not sure if you have this one?

Ref: RG12/189
51 Culford ?(could be Guilford) Road, Parish: St John at Hackney.

Selina R Roby, age 20, b: Middlesex, Lodger, Visitor.
Arthur H Roby, age 10mths.

The head of household was W Freeman, age 61, b: Middlesex, Occ: Cooper.

Is this the right one?

Can you let me know which census reports you need and I'll look them up for you.

Hi Cathay,

I had a quick look at censuses and BMD and I'm wondering if maybe you're mixing up 2 generations. The Thomas (Samuel) Tarling who married an Alice (Alice Louisa White, marriage in 1894) was the brother of Selina Rose. Both were the children of Thomas (also sometimes Thomas Samuel) and Mary Ann

1871 census
RG10/474 73 33
St Mathews Bethnal Green
13 Mead St

Thomas Tarling, head, 28, Labourer in Glass Works, b. Shoreditch
Mary Ann, wife, 23, b. St George East
Mary Ann, dau, 4, b. Bethnal Green
Rose, dau, 3, b. do.
Thomas, son, 1, b. do.
Mary Ann, mother, wid, 50, Hawker, b. do.
John, brother, unm, 17, Labourer, b. Shoreditch

Do you know the names of Arthur Ernest Roby's parents, finding it difficult to sort him out from loads of other's.
Or are you OK with his info?
Get back quick, I'm getting into this now  Grin lol.

Hi Cathay,

Could only find Thomas (1816) "wife" in the 41 census, no luck with Thomas so far, unless he was a butcher at one time, and married to a Ellen/Eleen.....lol

St John, Hamstead.
Mary Ewins, age 45, born in area, Straw Bonnet Maker. (Traveling Link)
Mary Ann Ewin (no "s") born in area, aged 15.

Mary Ann's age/place seem right, but really need to know her mothers name to make sure.

Off to look for the Roby's now, well after making grumpy's tea that is....lol
