Nepolian Boneparte Riddle
« on: Wednesday 04 November 09 12:12 UTC (UK) »

Hello as I was searching for a Riddle ancestor in South Shields I came across this one,
Nepolian Boneparte Riddle son of William and Margaret christened St Hilda's 1826, on another site his middle name is given as Boneycarte, poor boy,I probably have no link to him at all but would be interested if any one can find any further details on him.
I haven't found him in any census and wondered if he changed his name,
Thankyou Gillian

I would definitely change it if my parents had named me like this,I found it quite amusing that they chose the name ,and will research just to see if he was named for a particular reason,if possible,I think a trip over to the North East might be the easier option with this man,
thankyou,

I think he changed his name to William after his father.  Smiley

In 1841 census there is only one William and Margaret Riddle in South Shields, they have a 14 yr old son William plus other children.
HO107 Piece 298 Book 8  Folio: 31 Page 56
Thames Street, South Shields
William Riddle     35 Trimmer
Margaret  35
William     14 Blacksmith Apprentice
Jane      9
Margaret  4
John     3
Elizabeth  1

Although I can find the baptism for Napoleon with parents William & Margaret, I can't see one for a William with those parents

South Shields St. Hilda
