I am trying to establish the death of Margaret A. Crosbie b.1815 Girthon KDBT. The last census she appears on is the 1891 England. Margaret is 80 widowed and living with her daughter in Liverpool. She does not appear on the 1901 England census.
I wonder if she returned to her native Scotland. There is a Margaret Crosbie born abt 1810 Scotland who appears on the 1901 Scotland census living in Roxburghshire. Is it possible that someone could check this entry out to see if it may be the Margaret i am after. Her husband was David Crosbie b. 1818 Dunscore, d. 1886 liverpool. Thank you.

If you know her maiden name then you can search Scotland's People for her death. There are 3 possibles but without more info it's difficult to narrow it down.

Hi Kirsty thanks for that.
Margarets maiden name was Kelly, father Samuel, mother Mary, both born 1791 Scotland.

No matches with other name Kelly, but that doesn't mean that one of them isn't yours. The information on the death certificate is only as good as the knowledge of the person registering it!
Hope you have more luck with the census records.

Hi Purlin
The 1901 entry that you referred to. That Margaret shows as b. 1810 in Langton, Berwickshire, probably not the Margaret you are looking for you would think. She is living with a granddaughter, Margaret Turnbull, aged 39 and born in Morebattle, Roxburghshire.

There is a death in 2nd Qrt 1895 for an 83 yr old Margaret Crosby in Birkenhead, Cheshire (Vol. 8a Pg. 351). Have you considered this one?

Hi Monica,
I had seen the Birkenhead entry. I felt Roxburghshire was more likely as I had not had found any family members on the Wirral. However, as you have now kindly discounted the Roxburghshire entry perhaps i will have to look more seriously at Birkenhead. There was also a Margaret Kelly in the south of Liverpool that was a possible, I wondered if she may have reverted to her maiden name. I suppose its also possible that she died in a hospital.
Thank you Regards Purlin
