marriage
« on: Wednesday 04 November 09 19:48 UTC (UK) »

Hi there

Trying to find a marriage of a Sampson Malbourn to a Sarah between 1850 to 1856.

On the 1861 census there eldest child is 5 and their name is spelt Malbourne
Oh the 1871 census its spelt Malbourn

Sarah marries again in 1877 to a Thomas Lloyd and her name is spelt Malborn and it
says her father is an Edward Cordwell.

Sarah was born in Stone and Sampson in Fenton so im assuming the marriage was in the
potteries area but i cant find a possible marriage.
Could someone take the time to try on my behalf please

                 regards IJL

Hi IJL,

Maybe a red herring but there's a marriage

Sarah C(o/a)rdwell - Sampson Morley
at Shelton St Mark (Dec 1854)

Could Sampson have been known under 2 different names? Have you found him on earlier censuses?  Smiley

Hi Tati

The earliest census i have him on is 1861 when he and Sarah are together
with children Jane, Thomas and Charlotte

A rather dubious possibility for Sampson in 1851 - the age is way off compared to 1861, but place and occupation match.   Huh

HO107/2006/460/14 - Park St, Fenton Vivian, Stoke upon Trent
Charlotte MALBOURN - Head - Widow - 73 - Longton, Staffs
Sampson MALBOURN - Son - 35 - Potter - Fenton, Staffs
Robert TIPPING - Grandson - 16 - Potter - Fenton, Staffs

Charlotte and Samson MALBON are in Fenton on the 1841 census with corresponding birthdates (allowing for rounding down).

Added:  Sampson and Sarah name one of their children Charlotte, so perhaps it's the 1861 age which is wrong?
