There is a death of Mary Blanchard aged 50 registered in Howden district in June quarter of 1882 (William's wife is shown as aged 49 in 1881 census).
William and Mary had a daughter named Ada, who appears in 1871 aged 1, and 1881 aged 11. Ada's birthplace is shown as Woodall in 1871, and Hemingbrough in 1881 - in both cases the family are living in Woodall.
A birth of Ada BLANCHARD was registered in June quarter of 1869 in Howden district, and a baptism of Ada BLANSHARD, daughter of William and Mary took place on 27 February 1870 at Hemingbrough.
The only other likely birth is of Ada BLANSHARD registered in June quarter of 1870, Howden district. This could also be William and Mary's daughter, if they baptised her before the birth was registered.
At any rate, one Ada Blanchard/Blanshard is William and Mary's daughter, the other appears to be the child of Peter and Ann Blanchard, born at North Cave (also in Howden district). She appears with her parents in 1871, 1881, and possibly marries John Witty in 1890. Peter and Ann are still in North Cave in 1891.
1891 census shows Ada Blanshard, daughter to head of household, aged 21, born in Woodall living in Hemingbrough with:
William Blanshard head M 63 Farm labourer born Cavill*, Yorks Ann Blanshard wife M 62 born Hemingbrough Tom W Blanshard son 8 born York
It is true that this William Blanshard does not match well with Mary's husband. On the other hand, the daughter Ada does seem to match William and Mary's daughter.
Although 8 year old Tom W Blanshard is shown as William's son in 1891, the fact that he was born in York and not locally suggests that maybe he isn't. There is a possible marriage shown on the IGI in 1884 of William Blanchard and Ann Parker, at Hemingbrough. His father is named as John Blanchard.
* That is what the original appears to say, but there doesn't seem to be any such place.

My starting point was the 1871 census page which was linked to a tree on Ancestry that had William Blanchard married to Mary Ann Medd.
In 1861 children are: John aged 6 Alice Ann aged 3
Census ref: Class: RG9/ Piece: 3564/ Folio: 98/ Page: 30 _______________
In 1871 children are: Elizabeth aged 9 Thomas aged 5 Ada aged 1.
Class: RG10/ Piece: 4763/Folio: 94/ Page: 27 ____________
In 1881 children are: John aged 25 Alice aged 22 Thomas aged 14 Ada aged 11
there is also a William Marshall, recorded as William Blanchard's father-in-law
Class: RG11/ Piece: 4737/ Folio: 76/ Page: 3
They do all seem to be the same family - but possibly not the one you are after.

Yes this is my family John William's son was my grand mothers father so he was my GG/Father & William my GGG/father, William Marshall was classed as father-in -Law because he married Alice Cutsforth(nee Medd) and she was Mary Ann's mother, The info I am looking for is his 2nd marriage in 1882/6 to Ann???, I have found a death for a Mary Blanchard in 1882 age 50 which would be right for Mary Ann as she was born 1832, also another baffling thing is Where did William get the middle name Thompson from ?. I have located living relatives of my grand mothers sisters who have filled a lot of my questions but not william 2nd marriage Thank you for your info 7 help it is very much appreciated.

I mentioned there is a marriage of William Blanchard and Ann Parker at Hemingborough shown on the IGI in 1884. Is William's father named as John Blanchard on the certificate for his marriage to Mary Ann?
The Ann Blanchard who is with William in 1891 names her birthplace as Hemingbrough.
1881 census: Hemingbrough, Yorkshire
Ann Parker head W 51 born Hemingbrough William Woodall father W 84 born Hemingbrough
The IGI entry for the marriage of Ann Parker and William Blanchard names her father as William Woodall, so this would seem to be the same person in 1881 - and she is a good match for Ann Blanchard in 1891.

Yes his father was John, so it seem this could be the right William if it gives his age he should be around 52 years old. I will take a look now
Thank you regards Helena
