Census - Blind Dumb Deaf COMPLETED
« on: Wednesday 04 November 09 23:24 UTC (UK) »

Struggling to confirm baptism of Thomas Tew, listed as being of Drayton, Salop (1851 census), but can not find baptism anywhere.

I do know that in 1851 he is listed as being either Blind, Deaf or Dumb. Is this likely to be listed elsewhere to enable me to confirm his place of origin ?

Also by 1861 census he had died (either March 1852 or Sept 1858)

Hi LeedsHipPriest,

Sorry (or rather not!) to say I don't think he has an infirmity in 1851. If he had, it would clearly state either 'deaf', 'blind' or whatever.

In this case, the tick was added later for statistical purposes to count the people who were born out of the county they were enumerated in. Have a look at the whole page - all the people born out of county have a tick in the last column.
