If you look in the 1911 indexes for
Sunderland b1896 +- 4 Woolley
you get Doris & Winifred in Barnsley and Gladys Muriel in Wakefield. I don't know if this is any help

I'm tempted to send for her birth cert to see what it says. Lily Ann Buckle did'nt marry Ernest Sunderland until Jun Qtr 1896. If he was her father would it have been unusual to have that kind of gap?
I've come to the conclusion that nothing is unusual or even unlikely 
I'd be tempted to guess that Ernest might not be Gladys' father. He's shown as single in 1891, so there was presumably no reason why they couldn't have married sooner. If Gladys is illegitimate her father may not be shown on her birth certificate.
I'll look for Lily Ann in 1891 next, but if you want any more on the Sunderlands just ask. They're quite easy to find (as these things go)
