One of my five times great grandfathers is also my six times great grand father twice.  I am not going to try to work out how much that reduces my number of direct ancestors.

Thanks for the post, you've all contributed to my brain exploding!  Grin

I've managed to get one branch of my tree back to 1625, and a great grand-daughter of my great gran's sister who I talk to is 78, whereas I am 42 - but they did throw out alot of kids in the 'old days' didn't they, with huge age ranges between the youngest & oldest child.
