I wonder if anyone out there can help me find out when my 2x great grandfather died.  The information I have at this time is that he was born in 1851  in South Cave, Yorkshire, Married to Jane Hannah Sales in Sheffield in 1873.  they had at least 4 children Ann, Sarah, Willie and Walter.  I have managed to find John in the 1881 census but cannot locate him in the 1891 census.  I think that he might have died by this time as the girls appear on the 1891 census return for the Port of Hull Societies Orphan Home.  On Ann's marrage certificate from 1899 her father was John Leighton (deceased) and he was a mariner.

Where have you searched?   www.freebmd.org.uk has good coverage for that time so you may be lucky.
