Peter Williams+ Anne of Cilcain Circa 1810
« on: Thursday 05 November 09 19:12 UTC (UK) »

My g-g-grandmother was born in  the Cilcain/mold area on Christmas day in 1816. She was the illegitimate child of Peter Williams 'Hesp ? ' , a servant, and Anne 'Frondeg' . I cannot find a record of any subsequent marriage between Peter and Anne . I cannot find either a record of Anne's subsequent marriage to the Rev John Richard Chambers in 1843 in Holywell.
Can anyone help me with this query, please ? .  I do not know the area at all , I'm afraid

Looks like either Anne changed her name or she didn`t marry the Rev.
Eleanor is from the right area and born about the same time. Huh

Gwernaffield and Cilcain are very close.

1871 RG10/3725, f.53, pg.13
Eleanor Chambers is a widow and living with her children in Cheshire.

So it doesn't look as though he remarried later in life. Sad

Terribly Sorry - my typing mistake - J R Chambers did indeed mary Eleanor. Its her mother Anne's marriage that eludes me (If it indeed ever took place ).

Where is Ysceifiog ? . I've managed to look at an 1851 census record today, and a Peter/Anne Williams of around an appropriate age are living there

If you look at the link of the map, just above Cilcain is the A541, to the left is Ysceifiog.
All very close.

I see it now- I forgot that there was a linked map there earlier. It certainly looks very close to Cilcain ,and a high probability of a match . What parish would it be in ? - Is it a parish in itself ?

This has John as being born Kilken  = Cilcain, so it certainly could be.

http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/wal/FLN/#index
this will give you details on Flintshire parishes, many  in that area are very small, and each has it`s own chuch.

Where did you get the details on Ellenors birth from. Huh

Looking  at the 1851 census, the eldest son was born 1819 Kilken/ Cilciain so I guess that`s the place to look for the marriage, also all children were  born there.
Perhaps Hayes marriage index will find  them , not available online unfortunately.

I think my father got it from somewhere a long time ago.
It must have been some sort of parish record , but I'm not sure which.

Cilcain marriages have been transcribed  by Clwyd FHS for 1754/1843 so if PeterWilliams and Ann married there you should find them.
