Good Morning Rachael
Can't help with dates other than guess about 1910.  Hope this colored version  finds a place in your family archives.
Beautiful subject; a delight to do some work on.
Regards, Morrie

Hi Rachael

I don't think you can improve on either of your two beautiful photos in their natural sepia state, but I was bored.

Cheers

And because the other half is in the lounge watching a fishing program  Roll Eyes  I've decided that she felt like a change and is now wearing a taffeta ensemble.  Roll Eyes Grin Grin Grin

And I've added one without the obligatory roman columns in the background the Vic photographers so loved!  Grin

These restores and colourings are just fabulous, gang...Rachael, you have some real winners here Smiley

I've been thinking about the possibility of the photo having been taken to mark an engagement or wedding....it was the custom to display an engagement/wedding ring prominently in such a photo. But in both pics, there is no ring visible, and in the first photo she is wearing a glove on the highly visible left hand, which by the date estimated, would have been the ring hand. So I'm thinking it's a photo marking another milestone, a birthday perhaps, or even nothing at all...just some thoughts....

Cheers,
China

I thought the same thing as China. the lady is definitely not showing off the ring hand which is what you would expect for an engagement.  I would say they are more probably a 21st and possibly a graduation photo (hence the books on the stand).

Thanks for the input China, you're very likely right. I'll have to ask Mum if she knows of any potential events the photo could have been taken for.

Also, thanks for the great colourisations everyone! These photos seem to have went down a treat  Smiley.
