hi cardiff sorry after looking at my post again ive realised i'm being very vague to which i apologise i would dearly like to find out about my grandparents from when they married onwards and also about my mums life growing up in cardiff with her siblings my mum passed away when i was 17 and never got the chance to ask her all the questions about her family i would dearly love to know now i do know that the address where my mum grew up is now an industrial estate my grandfather was a dock policeman but i have been unsuccessful in finding any proof of this however, with help from a fellow rootschatter i have my great grandfathers work history of him being a dock policeman i know its a long shot but i'm hoping someone grew up in the same area of cardiff as my mum thanks berni

Hi berni I understand now. I'm sure someone out there will know. You could e-mail Cardiff library or do you live in cardiff? At the old library in cardiff they are building a history of Cardiff they hope to get a full musem going and there has been different events held. Cardiff library might be able to give you info, because I think it is funded by Cardiff City council, Anyway its an idea, good luck cheers cardiff

I don't know it will help but the Irish contingent tended to gravitate to an area called Newtown. This area was demolished and there is (or was until last month) an industrial estate where the houses used to be.
